Not content with being Baltimore’s most treasured actress Edith Massey stepped up the game by releasing this punk killer! Out on Egg Records this is ‘Punks Get Off the Grass’ and the flip…..wait for it…. ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ – HAMAZING!!!

Edith Massey is one of my all time heroes. A John Waters film just isn’t a John Waters film without her. The Egg Lady, Queen Carlotta, Aunt Ida (my personal favourite!) – and such a trooper, apparently while making Female Trouble poor old Edith had to sit in that birdcage all wrapped up without being able to see a darn thing for 5 hours! Yikes!

PLUS after the movies she opened up her own thrift store – I cannot express how much I would give to have gone there, you just know it was thrift nirvana – D.R.E.A.M.Y

OHH My So Called Life  where did you go?

Ahh- happy memories of starting every Summer holiday morning with a shot of teenage trauma and heartbreak.

Let us re-live the time where inserting “like” after every other word was rife and the only way to properly end a sentence was with  “…or whatever”.

Angela Chase = my hero

Rayanne: You wanna have sex with him.
Angela: Who?
Rayanne: Who. Jordan. Catalano. Come on, I’m not gonna tell anyone, just admit it.
Angela: I just like how he’s always leaning. Against stuff. He leans great. Well, either sex or a conversation. Ideally both.

Diane Lane fronting an all-girl punk trio, which also includes Laura Dern – SWOON!!

Now we could get totally excited about the fact that a rare screening of this film is occurring at this years Gay and Lesbian Film Festival at the BFI. BUUUUT number one it falls on a date when I am not in the country – groan! and two alas the tickets have sold out already!!! BOOO!

But you never know maybe someone, somewhere (?) will be having a secret screening….hmmm??? I’ll keep you posted – but at least we have this little treat!

Apparently the films original title was ‘All Washed Up’ – but perhaps ol’muzo biz tycoon Lou Adler didn’t reckon that would be such a great box office puller…all the same the film didn’t gain much widespread release, unfortunately.

Maybe Judith Halberstam could remake it -swoon!
